THE POTTER'S CLAY
Mold me with your Potter's hands
Push and pull what might have been,
With even pressure make me smooth
And daily show me which to choose...
A gentle resounding of the tongue
Or wayward words obliquely strung
From lips obeisantly, that give praise
To You or selfish me.

Isaiah 64:8 -- But now, Lord, You are our Father; We are the clay, and You our
potter, And all of us are the work of Your hand.
Jeremiah 18:2-6 -- "Arise, and go down to the potter's house, and there I will
let you hear my words."
So I went down to the potter's house, and there he was working at his wheel.
And the vessel he was making of clay was spoiled in the potter's hand, and he
reworked it into another vessel, as it seemed good to the potter to do.
Then the word of the Lord came to me:
"O house of Israel, can I not do with you as this potter has done? declares
the Lord. Behold, like the clay in the potter's hand, so are you in my hand, O
house of Israel.
Romans 9:22-26 -- What if God, desiring to show his wrath and to make known his
power, has endured with much patience vessels of wrath prepared for destruction,
in order to make known the riches of his glory for vessels of mercy, which he
has prepared beforehand for glory-
even us whom he has called, not from the Jews only but also from the Gentiles?
As indeed he says in Hosea,
"Those who were not my people I will call 'my people'
and her who was not beloved I will call 'beloved.'"
"And in the very place where it was said to them, 'You are not my people,'
there they will be called 'sons of the living God.'"
