TRUE ART

TRUE ART

The sunlit slope of Mount Hood smiles over
Lost Lake, and we float lazily as our row boat
Comes close to frustrated fishermen...and the
Need to sequester ourselves to a more appropriate

Place causes slight movement, as you calmly took
The oars without moving to a more prominent position,
for better vision...and again we float, drift, and relax as
Our reticent mood silently speaks...joyfully our minds

Accept this interaction with nature, but all too soon it's
Time to head for camp...so with relative ease you direct
The craft toward our destination, then you offer me an
Opportunity to become acquainted with the art of rowing,

And with quiet amusement you observe my irritation at
Not being able to steer the boat in a forward fashion,
Then in your gentle manner you offer assistance and
Once again we begin moving in a straight line instead

Of half circles. How good it is to have friends and nature...
They both touch inner spaces and create in me a thankful
Heart for being able to participate in true art!

Beautiful, Lost Lake is a pristine natural lake that sits at the base of Mount Hood, about 25 miles southwest of Hood River, Oregon. This popular summer destination is a perfect escape for families, groups or individuals seeking to enjoy the great outdoors and have a change of pace from everyday life.

There are many opportunities to explore nature, whether from one of the hiking trails, fishing on the lake in a row boat, camping at one of the campsites, or staying in one of the cabin rentals. No matter what your idea of relaxation is, you can't go wrong spending a night, a weekend or a few days at this back to nature retreat and camping area. Reservations are advised if you really want to experience Lost Lake, and take full advantage of what is offered. FYI, Mount Hood is Oregon's tallest volcano, in the Oregon Cascade mountain range.

This is one of my favorite memories of camping out with three friends at Lost Lake. It's such a gorgeous area and being able to stay there was a delightful experience. There's nothing better than waking up to a beautiful view such as this, and then having the fun of cooking breakfast with friends, smelling the bacon sizzle on our campsite's firepit grill, and sharing a hearty breakfast with friends who also love the outdoors. God's creation is amazing! -- Cheryl
