THE WETNESS OF THE DRY

THE WETNESS OF THE DRY

You haven't failed me yet, oh LORD
Though you've set me on a path it
Seems of continual suffering, but far
From here a spring gurgles up from

This desert floor, overruns dry cracked
Walls and trickling down to the river
Bed rejoices to feel wet again, runs
Upstream to fill the water pots of all

The villagers and medicine men alike,
Who question how a brook bubbled
Up and ran backwards to the village...
But in desert schemes and sufferings

There's never a doubt that you're as
Close as my next breath and as far
Away as you need to stay, to bring
Me to my knees to depend on

YOU again, to see blossoms in the
Desert and the wetness of the dry.

Written after a couple of years of having ongoing pain and multiple surgeries in addition to hospital stays. It seemed as if there would never be an end to it. I had grown very tired and weary. Yet, deep within me I knew that God was always there even when HE seemed far away, His life within me calling out, falling on me, gently whispering, "I've got this my child, trust me, you are my precious daughter and I will never leave you."

When friends of mine were missionaries in Africa, they lived out in the bush country, and one time the whole area was experiencing a severe drought. The nearby river supplied their water and all of the villages up and down the river bank. Everyone was suffering and needed water badly. My friends and other missionaries from their compound, began to pray earnestly for rain to supply the desperately needed water.

GOD not only supplied the water but in a dramatically unexpected way. Water began gurgling up into the dry river and as the level rose it began flowing upstream against the normal current. It flowed right to the villages whose medicine men had done everything they could to conjure up the rain, but to no avail.

Isn't that just like our GOD!!? He provided when his people began to fervently pray together for the LORD to supply water, & HE did it in a way that left no doubt that it was Jehovah-Jireh, not the medicine men bringing the vital gift of water.

Do you think some of the villagers had their eyes opened to messages about Jesus Christ, that these missionaries had been sharing? YES, YES, and YES!!!.

We serve a GOD who provides for HIS own, & many times in ways we couldn't even imagine or ask for. Praise Him in ALL things for He is faithful! HE has supplied for me when I've been in desperate situations, and I know HE will do it for you too my friend. It may not be in the way you asked for, but it will surely be in the way that's perfectly suited to your specific needs.
