FIERY LIMBS

FIERY LIMBS

Fiery limbs...imbued with pain,
Take my breath...now focused
From eternal to circumstantial,
More evidence than what I see

As raw nerve endings weave into
Life's tapestries, with more than
Beauty, I'm apt to be asking why
My mind's eye returns frequently

To the colors of God's rainbow, as
A single golden thread of love and
Pain...stronger than ocean waves,
Sew pieces together of a picture of

Life on earth; even the bleak days,
Light shines into the darkest cave,
Infusing strength in my weakness,
And bravery in cowardice, with free

Flowing tears, through the years of
My life on earth that God's ordained,
I'm His child, covered by HIS blood!

In this life, we will have pain, sorrow, happiness, joy, love, and the whole gamut of emotions that we humans have. Sometimes our eternal perspective is challenged when our eyes are shifted onto the challenges that we are faced with, instead of remaining focused on our Savior, Jesus Christ.

For me, I've seen this many different times in my life, though as I'm getting older I'm finding that amid the challenging times, I can thank the LORD for his provision and ask for his help, as I need strength to cope and carry on, and I acknowledge my ever present desire to please Him.

Let's face it, life can be overwhelming at times, but the only way out of being in this condition is fully submitting ourselves to Jesus. One thing I've been able to see when I've done this, is the golden thread of God's love woven through all the different parts that have been dashed to pieces. But looking closely, I can see that those pieces are stitched together, and then made into a covering for me, that has become strong, sturdy, and enduring.

I've come to know that it's perfectly alright to cry now and then. Sometimes our emotions need to come out in the form of tears, as they can bring a soothing balm to the rawness of our emotions, and actual physical healing in the process. Even Jesus wept!

Remember the story of Lazarus, who was the brother of Martha and Mary. The scriptures tell us that Lazarus became ill, and word was sent to Jesus so that he would come and heal Lazarus. But when he found out, instead Jesus tarried where he was, and didn't race back to these friends' home in Bethany. When Jesus did arrive, his friend Lazarus had already been dead for four days. Jesus delayed his coming intentionally, so that the power of God could be seen. He knew that he would raise his friend from the dead, but he still wept as he observed all of those who were sad and weeping over Lazarus dying. -- Cheryl

John 11:1-7 -- Now a certain man was sick, named Lazarus, of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.
2 (It was that Mary which anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped his feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus was sick.)
3 Therefore his sisters sent unto him, saying, Lord, behold, he whom thou lovest is sick.
4 When Jesus heard that, he said, This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.
5 Now Jesus loved Martha, and her sister, and Lazarus.
6 When he had heard therefore that he was sick, he abode two days still in the same place where he was.
7 Then after that saith he to his disciples, Let us go into Judaea again.

John 11:21-35 -- Then said Martha unto Jesus, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
22 But I know, that even now, whatsoever thou wilt ask of God, God will give it thee.
23 Jesus saith unto her, Thy brother shall rise again.
24 Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection at the last day.
25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:
26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?
27 She saith unto him, Yea, Lord: I believe that thou art the Christ, the Son of God, which should come into the world.
28 And when she had so said, she went her way, and called Mary her sister secretly, saying, The Master is come, and calleth for thee.
29 As soon as she heard that, she arose quickly, and came unto him.
30 Now Jesus was not yet come into the town, but was in that place where Martha met him.
31 The Jews then which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary, that she rose up hastily and went out, followed her, saying, She goeth unto the grave to weep there.
32 Then when Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw him, she fell down at his feet, saying unto him, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.
33 When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping which came with her, he groaned in the spirit, and was troubled.
34 And said, Where have ye laid him? They said unto him, Lord, come and see.
35 Jesus wept.
