WHY HE CAME

WHY HE CAME

Why He came, was to pay the debt we all
Owed, He gladly took the blame and paid
Full price for sin, His own body's sacrifice,
Blood poured forth from His hands, feet,

Wounded side and brow with its crown of
Thorns embedded and pressed down, as
Strips of flesh hung by shredded threads...
Soldiers beat him mercilessly, made sport

Of his swollen eyes, blackened and bruised
Beyond recognition...His body...the broken
Bread, His blood...the red wine mingled and
Poured to dine, on the perfect lamb without

Spot or blemish, once for all fulfilled the law,
Taking upon Himself the sins of all mankind!

John 6:35 -- And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
John 6:51 -- I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
John 19:1-3 -- Then Pilate laid open Jesus' back with a leaded whip,
2 and the soldiers made a crown of thorns and placed it on his head and robed him in royal purple.
3 "Hail, 'King of the Jews'!" they mocked, and struck him with their fists.

Luke 22:63-64 -- The men who were holding Jesus in custody began mocking Him and beating Him,
64 and they blindfolded Him and repeatedly asked Him, saying, "Prophesy, who is the one who hit You?"

1 Corinthians 11:23-26 -- For I have received of the Lord that which also I delivered unto you, that the Lord Jesus the same night in which he was betrayed took bread:
24 And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.
25 After the same manner also he took the cup, when he had supped, saying, this cup is the new testament in my blood: this do ye, as oft as ye drink it, in remembrance of me.
26 For as often as ye eat this bread, and drink this cup, ye do shew the Lord's death till he come.
