JESUS IS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD

JESUS IS THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD

JESUS is the "Light of the World." If you don't have Jesus Christ in your life, you walk in darkness and the light of God is not in you. These aren't my words but words that come from the scriptures, and from our Lord Jesus Christ himself.

WHEN we follow Jesus, he leads us out of the darkness of this world and he tells us that we will have the light of his life in us. It is this light that others will see and be drawn to Jesus' light, or they will see it and reject the light because they love walking in darkness and the sin that they're entangled with in their lives. They don't want anyone telling them that they are walking in sin, because they want to be in complete control and do whatever "feels good" to them.

JESUS is the answer to everything in life, and when someone does listen to Jesus' call and follows him, they will come out of the darkness. He says when you follow me, I will make you fishers of men, or people for anyone having a problem with the term man; it has been used throughout history to refer to male and female. More specifically, it's what God says. Genesis 1:27 -- So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him, male and female created he them.

WHAT does Jesus mean by "I will make you fishers of men?" He's talking about the gospel of the kingdom of God. If you're still unsure what the gospel of the kingdom is, please see the ABC'S of the gospel message under the "Invitation" link on this website.

WHEN we're young, we think that we have plenty of time, we can look at serious things later but right now, in this moment...I want to live it up, have fun, and do whatever comes natural or feels good.

LAST WEEK a very good friend told me about a 15 year old boy who was running down a country road training for athletics, and he was hit by a car and killed. Unfortunately, the person driving the car was blinded by the sun and didn't see the young man. Very tragic situation all the way around. My friend, her daughter, grandchildren, and the whole rural area where the boy lived, are all reeling from this accident. Can you imagine the parents and family of the boy who died, in addition to the horrible feelings and grief of the person who hit him? So sad and tragic, yet these kinds of things happen each and every day across our country and across the world.

TODAY is the day of salvation, 2 Corinthians 6:2 -- For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succored thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.

SHARING this to emphasize that no one in this life has any guarantee that that they'll be here tonight, tomorrow, or the day after. If you or someone you know doesn't know Jesus Christ as Savior, search for the truth that is being shared with you now. If you do know Christ as Savior, share this with someone that you know who doesn't know where they'll spend their eternity. It's important and can be life altering!

WE'RE called, just as he called the disciples to follow him. He will make you fishers of men! All of us who've trusted Christ, have a part to play in Christ's plan. He says "Follow Me." Are you following Jesus and fulfilling the plan he has for you? If not, it's not too late to start today! He'll strengthen, guide and fellowship with you, and all of us who are following him by obeying his word.
