TO SIT AT JESUS' FEET
In sync sitting at his feet,
Absorbing his presence
Like a sponge, soaking up
The voice of the Holy One,
Mary chose listening rather
Than complain like Martha;
Sometimes I act like Martha,
My anxiety and worries set
Up shop in the kitchen of my
Mind, mixing burdens and
Worry into bitter cake, instead
Of sitting and absorbing the
Delicacies of the Master chef,
Who seeks to teach us how to
Cook and bake for him, cakes
Of grace and mercy, and the
Pure meat of God's Word, to
Those who're perishing and
Others who need refreshing
With nourishment for spirit,
Resting in his presence, love
Cakes without calories, and meat
Of deeper truths, God provides rich
Soul food; sustenance for the new
Believer, and perfectly grilled meat
For the more mature Christian,
Packed, nutritious, satisfying!
