AFTER THE RAIN
Raining in the night washed her weary
Face, when the sun came up, her worry
Lines erased, no more war or battle cries,
Floods, fires, famine or lies, no Johnny at
The corner store, pointing gun in Ronny's
Face, the sun begins to dry her crust, and
For a moment things are clean, fresh, and
New, then tug-o-war begins again, debris
Begins to litter the land, and between this
Moment of good or evil, the earth shudders
Shakes, spits and sputters, creates quite an
Upheaval, then starts her day all over again.

Don't you just get tired of the wickedness of people doing bad things, without a thought
for the people they commit acts of violence on? I sure do, and they call evil good, and
good evil.
Fortunately, for Christians, we know that our God will make all things new, and that all
evil will be dealt with by our righteous, holy God. Those who never repent and turn their
lives over to Jesus for salvation, will have to be held accountable for their own actions.
But God is giving people chance after chance to turn away from their sinful lives, and
surrender themselves to Jesus Christ. We were all wicked and separated from God before
coming to Christ, because all of us fell short of fulfilling God's perfect standard. We
could never be made right with God, no matter how hard we tried or how many good works we
could do. Without his intervention on our behalf, we would all fall short of perfection.
Jesus was perfect and when he died on the cross, he fulfilled God's standard, and he's the
only one who could pay for man's sins. He was fully God and fully man. Therefore he offered
himself as a ransom (a payment) for all of us. All any of us have to do, is to accept Jesus
as our sin bearer.
We're told in scripture that God desires everyone to turn to his son Jesus for forgiveness.
It doesn't matter what they've done, God says that we can be forgiven, but that we must
admit our need for Jesus' blood sacrifice personally. For without the shedding of blood
there is no remission of sin (Hebrews 9:22).
The poem I'm sharing here describes the constant pull between good and evil, and just when
everything seems to be on an even keel around us, we see the wickedness taking place, over
and over again.
It's interesting that the scriptures also tell us, that creation itself groans and waits
for redemption. See the Romans 8 verses that I've included below, (especially note verse
22). -- Cheryl

Romans 8:18-26 -- For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to
be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.
19 For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons
of God.
20 For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly, but by reason of him who
hath subjected the same in hope,
21 Because the creature itself also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption
into the glorious liberty of the children of God.
22 For we know that the whole creation groaneth and travaileth in pain together until now.
23 And not only they, but ourselves also, which have the firstfruits of the Spirit, even
we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting for the adoption, to wit, the redemption of our body.
24 For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why
doth he yet hope for?
25 But if we hope for that we see not, then do we with patience wait for it.
26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray
for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which
cannot be uttered.

Luke 6:45 -- A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which
is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which
is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh.
